The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB), and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) opened registration for the Compliance Outreach Program for Municipal Advisors earlier this month.
SEC To Host Compliance Outreach Program for Municipal Advisors
This event is sponsored by the SEC’s Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations and the Office of Municipal Securities in conjunction with MSRB and FINRA. Lynette Kelly, Executive Director of MSRB, said, “This program is consistent with the MSRB’s goal of assisting municipal advisors in understanding and complying with their regulatory obligations, and municipal advisors will benefit from getting first-hand feedback from our staff.”
“Any firm that wants to enhance its understanding of the regulatory expectations in the important areas of fiduciary duty and supervision will benefit from participating in the outreach program,” said Mike Rufino, FINRA’s Head of Member Regulation-Sales Practice.
MSRB is administering the registration process. The program is free to attend with a maximum of two in-person attendees per firm. Attendance is limited to a first-come, first-serve basis, though, again, the program will be shown as a live webcast on the SEC’s website. Registration is available online.
